Formal Writing

Adverb Starters:
Interestingly, surprisingly, quickly, curiously, importantly, firstly,
often, remarkably, similarly, significantly, readily, shockingly.

Adverbs must have, comar sentences.

Examples:
  • Dimly, the man was not breathing, CPR had to be given.
  • Innocently, the man was arrested but produced a fight.
  • Clearly, the students are not paying attention.
  • Lazily, they are all asleep.

The-w-sentence starter:

Where, when, while, whilst, whereas, who, what.

E.g While, I was making breakfast, the dog was stealing my shoes.

Examples:

  • Who, the keyword relating to the murder.
  • Whilst, the grape man was thinking how the duck was to leave, he had already waddled away.
